Even though I like Sarah Lacy, I think we can all agree that her prediction that Israel could never mature into an ecosystem that produce billion dollar companies was probably off the mark. Since Waze, Israel is producing other BIG companies like Taboola, Outbrain, Wix, Mobile Eye and others. The thinking in Israel’s early days as the Startup Nation was that Israeli entrepreneurs were better off building companies that could be acquired by big companies abroad. But now, not only has a new wave of ambitious Israeli entrepreneurs emerged with the ambition to build big companies, but a new wave of VC’s have emerged who share their vision.
Meet Rona Segev, an entrepreneur, a veteran of some Israel’s biggest funds like Pitango & Evergreen and now the founder of TLV Ventures, a $100M VC fund in Israel. Rona has been nice enough to spend some time answering my questions.
